Artistic Director Notes – Where I End.

We live in a world that asks us to produce, perform, optimize, and move faster—often at the cost of our inner lives. Over time, the pressure to be useful, efficient, and measurable can quietly erode our sense of connection: to ourselves, to each other, and to the communities we belong to.

Where I End. was created from this concern.

This work examines how systems of labor, productivity, and social expectation press into our bodies and relationships—shaping how we move, how we see ourselves, and how we relate to others. At its core, the piece asks: What happens when we begin to confuse our worth with our output? And what becomes possible when we pause long enough to remember who we are beneath those demands?

Developed collaboratively with the performers, Where I End. blends contemporary dance, physical theatre, vertical dance, spoken text, and immersive staging. The choreography is built through shared curiosities—movement emerging from our very own lived experience, dialogue, resistance, and care. Rather than presenting a single narrative, the work unfolds as a series ideas: pressure, repetition, rupture, release, and return.

This is not a story about rejecting structure entirely, but about reclaiming humanity within it. About noticing where we end and where others begin. About remembering that community, rest, vulnerability, and play are not luxuries—but necessities.

We hope this performance offers space to reflect, to feel, and perhaps to recognize something familiar within yourself. If you leave with more questions than answers, the work is doing its job.
